Pierce County runs from the Tacoma waterfront and the military communities around Joint Base Lewis-McChord to the Puyallup Valley and the slopes below Mount Rainier. Frequent moves, deployments, shift work and long commutes on I-5 and SR 167 all take a toll on sleep, mood and focus, and appointments with integrative psychiatric providers can be hard to find locally.
Our clinic is at 2135 112th Ave NE, Suite 201, Bellevue, and every service is also available through secure telehealth anywhere in Washington. Many patients do most visits by video and come in only when an in-person appointment is genuinely useful.
The drive from most of Pierce County to Bellevue takes 35 to 60 minutes, so telehealth is how most patients here see us, with in-person visits when they choose.
A whole-person, root-cause approach
Most people who reach us from Pierce County have already tried something: a few months of therapy, a prescription that took the edge off, a stack of supplements from the internet. What usually hasn’t happened is anyone stepping back to look at the whole picture at once. Holistic psychiatry does exactly that. We look at mood, anxiety, focus and sleep alongside the things that drive them underneath: sleep quality, nutrition, stress physiology, hormones, inflammation, gut health, medications and life circumstances.
Care usually begins with our Biopsych Assessment, a structured intake that brings your history, symptoms and any relevant labs into a single plan. From there, psychotherapy, lifestyle and nutritional strategies, and medication management where appropriate are coordinated by one team rather than split across several offices. Care is led by Dr. Koichi Tanji, ND, LMHC.
Communities we serve in Pierce County
Lakewood and JBLM families
Lakewood borders Joint Base Lewis-McChord and is home to many service members, veterans and military spouses. It is roughly 45 to 50 minutes from our clinic via I-5 and I-405. Military families often deal with relocation stress, a partner’s deployment and children adjusting to new schools, and secure video visits make it easier to keep care consistent through those changes. Ask us about coverage for your specific plan when you call.
University Place
University Place sits on the shore west of Tacoma, home to Chambers Bay, about 50 minutes from Bellevue. Most University Place patients use telehealth for routine visits.
Gig Harbor
Gig Harbor is across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge on SR 16, about 55 to 60 minutes from our office. The bridge commute adds up, so many Gig Harbor patients prefer to do nearly all of their care by video.
Sumner
Sumner lies in the valley where SR 167 meets SR 410, about 35 to 40 minutes from Bellevue via SR 167 and I-405. It is one of the closer Pierce County towns for an occasional in-person appointment.
Bonney Lake
Bonney Lake sits on the plateau above Sumner along SR 410, around 40 minutes from our clinic. Families here often commute into King County, and a mix of evening video visits and occasional clinic appointments tends to work best.
