ADHD testing in Washington

A thorough ADHD assessment, clear answers for adults and children.

What it means

What ADHD testing involves

ADHD testing is a structured assessment that looks at attention, focus, history and daily function to determine whether ADHD is present, and what else may be contributing. At Sphosh Health, Dr. Koichi Tanji, ND, LMHC provides comprehensive ADHD testing for adults and children that goes beyond a checklist, weighing sleep, nutrition, stress and medical factors so the diagnosis and plan reflect the whole person.

What an ADHD evaluation looks like, step by step

Good ADHD testing is not a five-minute questionnaire. Here is how the process usually unfolds at Sphosh Health, whether you come in to our Bellevue office or meet Dr. Tanji by secure video from anywhere in Washington.

  1. A thorough history. We start with your story, how attention, focus, organization and follow-through show up at work, school and home, and when they first appeared. Adult ADHD often looks nothing like the childhood stereotype, so we listen for the adult patterns: missed deadlines, mental restlessness, time blindness and emotional reactivity.
  2. Validated rating scales. We use standardized, evidence-based ADHD screening tools, and, where it helps, input from a partner or family member, rather than a single self-report.
  3. Ruling out the look-alikes. Sleep problems, thyroid issues, low iron, anxiety, depression and even blood-sugar swings can all mimic or worsen ADHD. We weigh these, using functional testing where it clarifies the picture, so we do not label something ADHD that is actually something else, or miss a second condition that also needs care.
  4. A clear explanation. You leave understanding what we found and why, in plain language rather than jargon.
  5. A plan that fits you. If ADHD is present, your plan may combine behavioral strategies, sleep and nutrition support, and medication where it genuinely helps, the same root-cause approach we bring to all of our care.
